Adidas: Destined to Be Rivalled?
In 1924, Adidas was originally created by two brothers: Adolf (Adi) and Rudolf Dassler. Back then it was called ‘Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory’.
Over the years, the relationship between the brothers broke down until finally in 1947, they split up.
That was when Adi created Adidas - a combination of Adi and Dassler.
Rudolf also created a new brand: Ruda. It has since been renamed to a small brand you may know…
Puma!
Yes, that’s right. Two of the world’s biggest sportswear brands were from two brothers in Germany.
It won’t come as a surprise to hear the brands had a huge rivalry - with their hometown of Herzogenaurach getting the nickname ‘the town of bent necks’ due to people looking down to see what brand of shoes people were wearing.
What Teams Wear Adidas Football Kits?
Some of the most famous teams in the world wear football shirts by Adidas. This isn’t surprising given that it’s the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe - closely followed by Nike.
