10) Kyle Walker - 93 Caps

At number ten on our list of the most caps for England football is Kyle Walker. Usually wearing a Manchester City shirt, the football has 93 caps for England. He is known for his ability to read the game and is even thought of as England football team’s best-ever right-back!

9) Harry Kane - 103 Caps

Can you believe that next on our list is England captain Harry Kane? Although these days he’s more often seen wearing the football shirt of Bundesliga team Bayern Munich, last year he reached the coveted over 100 caps for England!

Not only that, he’s England’s highest-ever goal scorer and the second-highest goal-scorer in the Premier League, only missing out to Alan Shearer.

8) Billy Wright - 105 Caps

Billy Wright was a centre-back for England from 1946-1959 and was the first footballer in the world to get 100 international caps! He had 70 consecutive appearances for The Three Lions but overall got 105 caps - 90 of which he captained. We know what you’re thinking, yep, that does include three World Cup finals:

  • 1954
  • 1958

7) Frank Lampard and Sir Bobby Charlton - 106 Caps

Next up, in joint seventh place, we have Frank Lampard and Sir Bobby Charlton. Lampard is considered one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and represented England at three World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014) and at the 2004 Euros when England was named Team of the Tournament. 

He’s scored 29 goals for his country and was voted England Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2005!

If you thought Lampard’s record was impressive, just wait until you hear about Sir Bobby Charlton - AKA the best England player of all time! 

He was part of the 1966 squad that won the World Cup and the same year he won the Ballon d’Or. He was also second in the Ballon d’Or voting in 1967 and 1968! He was in the squad for three other World Cups:

  • 1958
  • 1962
  • 1970

And at the time of his retirement in 1970, he had the most caps for the England football team! Plus he was the highest goalscorer for England until Wayne Rooney beat him in 2015 and Harry Kane in 2022.

6) Ashley Cole - 107 Caps

Next up on our list of who has the most caps for the England football team is Ashley Cole. He started his career wearing an Arsenal football jersey before switching to rival Chelsea. 

He played for the England team from 2001-2014, so was part of the squad for both the Euros and World Cup during this time. After the 2010 World Cup, he was voted England Player of the Year! 

Recently, he has been an assistant coach to the England Men’s Under-21s and will now support the senior men’s team.

5) Bobby Moore - 108 Caps

Of course, the captain of the England squad that won the 1966 World Cup makes this list! 

Bobby Moore is thought to be one of the greatest defenders - and overall players - in the history of football. So much so, that there is a bronze statue of him outside the entrance of Wembley Stadium. 

He was made England captain when he was just 23 years old! At the time of his international retirement in 1973, he held the national record for the number of caps - but this was later broken by Peter Shilton. 

4) Steven Gerrard - 114 Caps

Stevie G is next on our list of the most caps for the England football team! When he wasn’t captain player for Liverpool, he was captain for the England squad. 

He has a total of 114 caps for the team and scored 21 goals between 2000 and 2014. He played for three Euros and three World Cups:

3) David Beckham - 115 Caps

Starting our top three is David Beckham. One of the greatest football players of our generation, Beckham has 115 caps for the England football team. He made his England debut on September 1st 1996 at just 21 years old. 

As captain of the squad, he made 58 appearances and played at three World Cups and two Euros:

  • 1998
  • 2000
  • 2002
  • 2005
  • 2006

In 1999 he was the runner-up to the Ballon d’Or and twice runner-up for the World Player in the Year in 1999 and 2001 - he had to be brought back down to Earth somehow!

2) Wayne Rooney - 120 Caps

Just missing out on the top spot is Wayne Rooney. He made his senior international England debut in 2003 at just 17 years old - making him England’s youngest-ever goal scorer!

And to top that - he played at the 2004 Euros’ and scored four goals making him the youngest goalscorer in the history of the European Championship! At the time of his appearances for England, he was considered the country’s best player and won England Player of the Year award four times:

Sure, he's not number one, but he is certainly one of England's best football players of all time.

1) Peter Shilton - 125 Caps

The player with the most caps for the England football team is Peter Shilton with an incredible 125 appearances!

The only goalkeeper to make the list, he had a career than span over 30 years and only made his World Cup debut at 32. He played three World Cups and two Euros:

  • 1982
  • 1986
  • 1988
  • 1990

He made 17 finals matches.

On top of being the most capped England player of all time, he also has the top record for the most competitive appearances in world football - a total of 1,396 times!
