90s Football Shirts... Ranked!

90s Football Shirts... Ranked!

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, 90s football shirts are a sight to behold.

Bright colours, shocking prints, and bold sponsors, these retro football shirts are instant classics.

But what’s the best 90s football shirt?

Let’s find out!

The Best 90s Football Shirts… Ranked!

Not only have we chosen shirts from the UK, but also some International football tops too!

Which will be your favourite?

12. Manchester United - Home - 1996

We are starting off strong with this home Manchester United football shirt from 1996.

The collar, the checkered shoulders, the button - it’s screaming retro 90s football shirt… and we love it!

With references to Old Trafford too on the sides, this shirt was definitely designed by angels, rather than (red) devils.

11. Germany - Home - 1996

Another 1996 classic, but this time it’s a German football shirt

Adidas has designed this shirt with the traditional German colours - black, yellow, and red - and the three stars are there too in a gradient effect!

The triple-tone collar and sleeve cuffs really stand out against the white shirt.

10. Italy - Home - 1994

This Italian football shirt is a bobby-dazzler.

The Azzurri are sticking to their traditional colours but feature the country’s flag colours - green, red, and white - in triangles on the collar and sleeve cuffs.

The shirt itself also has a repeating print of the three stars and circle in a two-tone navy.

9. Valencia - Home - 1999

Valencia might not be top of La Liga, but this shirt should be!

A black and orange collar and cuffs are matched to stripes along the shoulders and sides to create a continuous look that stands out against the white.

And the font of the sponsor makes it an unmistakably retro 90s football shirt!

8. Arsenal - Home - 1998

Talk about a throwback!

This 90s football shirt from Arsenal is everything we would want it to be - bold colours, stripes, a collar, button neckline!

What’s not to love from this Nike football shirt?

7. AC Milan - Home - 1993

You can recognise the team of this '90s football shirt just from the colours!

An integral part of Serie A, AC Milan has always played in red and black. In fact, when Herbert Kilpin founded the team in 1899, he said:

“We will be a team of devils. Our colours will be red like fire and black to invoke fear in our opponents!”

Sounds like he overheard Manchester United decide on its home shirt when he was giving that speech…

6. Real Madrid - Away - 1995

Now this is what we call football shirts from the 90s!

The multiple shades of purple, the multiple designs, the multiple dog paw prints?!

What do you think - should Kelme leave its mark in the past?

5. Barcelona - 1997 - Third

Another third shirt! This time from Barcelona.

Designed by Kappa, this 90s shirt definitely stands out from the crowd thanks to the block print and bright colours.

The Barca printing on the body of the shirt takes it to another level and makes it one of the best 90s football shirts.

4. Borussia Dortmund - 1995 - Away

A long-sleeve football shirt screams retro to us.

And that neon colour means you could wear it to the match and go straight to a '90s rave afterwards!

What a classic from Borussia Dortmund.

3. Leicester City - 1992 - Home

Even before they topped the Premier League, shirts from Leicester City have been blue!

This football shirt from the 90s has wavy lines to give a textured look which is contrasted with the plain collar that highlights the LCFC.

2. Manchester United - 1990 - Third

Now we’re talking!

Just look at this 90s third shirt from Manchester United.

Designed by Umbro, the navy blue shirt has horizontal grey/silver stripes with red accents on the buttons.

1. Scotland - 1992 - Home

In our top spot, we have a Scottish football shirt! Who’d have thought it?

This Umbro 90s shirt has it all - collar, jacquard print, stripes, and a singular button.

To us, this one’s a winner!
